You have to imagine: you develop a game for several years trying to give the best of yourself so that everything is perfect on the day of the release, your plan seems well established. But your creation is leaking 10 days ahead of schedule and unscrupulous people are spoiling your entire community. That’s kind of what’s happening with God of War Ragnarok.
Sony sees red for God of War Ragnarok
So Sony Santa Monica Creative Director Cory Barlog took to Twitter to express his frustration at the rather complicated and dire situation for the community regarding God of War Ragnarok. Here is the message in question:
You know, now I can really see the benefit of just having a physical installer.
A retailer that sells God of War Ragnarok almost TWO WEEKS before its release… It’s so disappointing…
Sorry to everyone, you have to avoid spoilers if you want to play the new game. It’s completely stupid to have to do that.
This is not at all how we wanted things to happen at SMS.
To be clear, I was expressing my frustration in the first tweet. I’m not advocating for that at all. This is not the future I want as a gamer or developer.
I’m just beyond frustrated. I feel bad for the team.
This whole ordeal is incredibly stressful for all of us.
We need time out for our mental health.
But it is not the only one to complain about the situation of God of War Ragnarok since Matt Sophos, the narrative director of the game who must be touched in the heart by this news also expresses himself on Twitter:
Stay away from social media, Reddit, YouTube, etc. unless you’re really confident in your ability to cut hashtags and block people.
I’m very sorry if anyone has seen our game spoiled in any way. We really tried to keep things fresh and surprising for you.
On our side, we can only advise you if you are interested in the game to block Twitter as much as possible, which is a spoiler’s nest, regardless of your strength of mind. For the record God of War Ragnarok is scheduled for November 9, 2022 on PS4 and PS5. There is still quite a bit of time to have the opportunity to have the script spoiled, that would be a shame.
