Despite taking longer than expected to develop, the PS5 and Xbox Series versions of The Witcher 3 are all set to arrive. CD Projekt RED made an appointment with The Witcher fans today to see them in action. Was the wait worth it? Here are the first images and an update on all the changes.

Enfin du gameplay pour The Witcher 3 PS5 & Xbox Series

The Witcher 3 will arrive on December 14, 2022 on PS5 and Xbox Series. An improved version that will offer dozens of visual, performance and technical improvements over the original version released in May 2015. This includes support for ray tracing, Ultra+ on PC, new close-up camera options, better loading times on consoles, a photo mode, completely reworked textures and also a whole slew of mods that will be directly integrated into the experience. But more than promises, the Polish studio finally showed them in action during a show broadcast on Twtitch to rediscover here.

Console versions oblige, The Witcher 3 PS5 and Xbox Series will offer a Quality mode at 30 fps with ray tracing and a Performance mode which will run the game at 60 fps. FSR 2.0 will be implemented, as well as support for haptic feedback to take advantage of the DualSense features. Several improvements are also on the agenda to improve the player experience. For example, it will be possible to assign the signs to a key rather than going through the menus, to pause during cutscenes or even to customize the HUD to remove the mini-map.

New free quests related to the Netflix series

In addition to all of these improvements, the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions of Witcher 3 will also receive a few improvements and additions, including the infamous additional content based on the Netflix series. On the program, new armor, swords and quests directly related to this other adaptation still kept secret for the moment. However, you will have to discover them for yourself when they come out.

As a reminder, the improved version of The Witcher 3 on PS5 and Xbox Series will also be available on PC. Players who already own the game on PS4, Xbox One, and PC will then only need to download their update to upgrade their copy for free. As for Cyberpunk 2077, the game will be entirely cross-save, in other words it will be possible to recover your save from one platform to another. For others, this new version will be sold separately at your usual retailer in physical version or on online stores. This is of course the full version, including the two expansions and all additional content.
