The creative director of NetherRealm Studios, the unbeatable Ed Boon, suggests that Mortal Kombat 12 should satisfy veterans of the license. And as he is one of the creators of the combat saga, we can trust him on the subject. So MK12 could mark the return of beloved characters from the 3D era, Boon seems to be preparing people for the idea anyway.

Mortal Kombat 12 will dig into the past?

Here’s what we can read on Twitter about it, knowing that Boon asked on his official account to ask him questions (not necessarily related to Mortal Kombat ):

Question: Why are characters from the 3D era so rare in newer games?

Answer: This is a problem that we will soon fix.

According to Boon, the next NetherRealm Studios game will be either Injustice 3 or Mortal Kombat 12. And if we still do not know which of the two will be playable first, the man clearly gives a note of hope for MK12. We had a glimmer of hope for an announcement during the Game Awards ceremony, but we also learn that Boon will be present without going on stage and therefore without a presentation. An announcement of Mortal Kombat or Injustice 3 without its man comes out, therefore, seems highly unlikely. Although anything is possible.

On your side, which character from the 3D era do you want to see in the next episode of the series? MK 4 teeming with characters, the choice seems very difficult to make…
